Yeovil Radio Club held their QRP in Sherborne at Digby Hall and generally the Stand is run by myself, Jenni & Hazel.
The QRP is held by Yeovil Amateur Radio Society and is held every April in Digby Hall, Sherborne. People where already waiting to come in at the opening of the doors and it was a busy start for the Club.
It once again had quite a few Stalls including charities. It was busy very early on but went slower after lunch.
Hazel G7RGI arrived at Sherborne early and set up the stand with her display, Jenni & Merfyn arrived next with some back-up goods for the table. Jenni had unfortunately fallen over a few days before and was unable to put her stand up but did turn up to support Hazel G7RGI and myself Carol 2E1RBH.
Rob G0RYL and myself arrived just after 09.00hrs and set up the rest of the stand with the International Young Ladies Conference Stand.
We were busy on our Stand with enquiries, new members and renewals of Membership. There was also interest shown in the IYL Convention Event at the end of the year.
Jenni and Hazel were speaking to a lot of ladies who came to see us and they seemed to be busy all day.
Must admit I spent most of my time getting Donations for the IYL Grand Raffle and managed to acquire a couple of Hand Helds and a few other bits and pieces from the same company to come. Tim Walford of Walford Electronics gave us a kit to build and we have had a promise from another company. The Raffle prizes are growing and the Raffle itself will be held during the IYL Convention Week.
The QRP closed down at about 14.00hrs and we cleared up and said our good byes to everyone. It is our first event of the year and it is always lovely to catch up with everyone again after the winter. It also lets us know of any new events that might be coming up in the not too distant future.
I (Carol 2E1RBH) will be taking part in SDRS (South Dorset Radio Society’s) Marconi event at New Barn Field Centre just outside Dorchester WAB SY 652 922, Grid Ref IO 80 SR, DT2 9SD. Looking forward to hearing you.
It is always a good day there meeting many friends from the local Counties and some new friends who are visiting this venue for the first time.
We look forward to next year’s visit.
