Like other amateurs, some members of BYLARA are keen contesters. As Contest Manager, each month I try to share upcoming contests that may be of interest via the BYLARA Reflector and facebook group. Below is some information specific to the RSGB Contests, and how you can support BYLARA by taking part.

Giving Points to BYLARA in RSGB 2019 Contests
There are many and varied RSGB Contests throughout the year – . You may already take part in some on behalf of your local club. If not, you could still participate, even casually, and give your points to BYLARA!

FMAC Championship
New for 2019 is the FMAC Championship. If you enter any of the FMACs and wish to give your points to BYLARA, you must operate from within an 80km radius of our Virtual Meeting Place (VMP). For 2019 this is Walker Barn, Macclesfield, SK11 0AW. To see if you are in a qualifying location please see this map:

After consulting our membership via Facebook and the Reflector, I have chosen this as our VMP as it includes a few YLs that I know may take part, me (as a regular participant) and as great a general population as I could. If you operate outside this area, of course you can still take part – just enter as an individual. You don’t even have to be in the RSGB as BYLARA is an affiliated association.

Other RSGB Contests
In most other RSGB contests there are two Club categories: General and Local. If you wish to give your points to BYLARA in any contest other than the FMACs, please enter under the General Club category.

As a small, dispersed, national association we can’t pretend to be particularly competitive, but it’s still great to get BYLARA in the logs to demonstrate that we are active!
